For The 17th Year in A Row, Enactus Egypt Competition Concludes with A Grand Celebration Sponsored by Orange Egypt

Orange Egypt took part in the closing ceremony of the Enactus Egypt Competition 2023, which it sponsored for the 17th year in a row. Eng. Yasser Shaker, CEO and Managing Director of Orange Egypt and Chairman of the Enactus Egypt Board of Trustees, honored the first three winning teams. He also congratulated Kafr El-Sheikh University on their victory and qualification to represent Egypt in the Enactus World Cup 2023, which will be held in the Netherlands in October.

The tournament is organized by the Enactus Egypt Organization, and it began in July with 33 Egyptian universities participating, with 5 qualifying for the final stages. The first three places were earned by Kafr El-Sheikh University, the International Academy of Engineering and Media Sciences (IAEMS), and Helwan University, respectively.

Kafrelsheikh University won first place for its innovative project “Hermetia,” which addresses several issues in Egyptian society and offers solutions for long-term development by providing safe, effective, and low-cost fodder from organic sources, specifically the “black soldier fly,” which feeds on food waste. The idea is to extract protein from these flies and use it to manufacture fish, poultry, and cattle feed, as well as chitosan, which is used in a number of pharmaceutical and critical industries.

The competition aims to help innovative students establish activities that benefit society or the environment, as well as to spur long-term growth in local areas. Orange Egypt officials, as well as entrepreneurs and CEOs of important global companies, participated in the competition jury.

Engineer Yasser Shaker congratulated Kafr El-Sheikh University on its well-deserved victory, noting, “There is no doubt that Egypt possesses competencies and creative talents, particularly in the fields of societal technology,” He also wished good luck to Kafr El-Sheikh University in the worldwide competition.

Fatima Sirry, President and CEO of Enactus Egypt, expressed her delight at the competition’s successful conclusion, which has established itself as a pioneering platform for researching, supporting, and certifying Egyptian youngsters who wish to make a difference in their society.

“The Enactus Egypt competition gives university students a unique opportunity to present their ideas and interact with experienced people in order to translate them into projects,” she went on to say. We feel that everyone who took part in this event benefitted in some manner, and we wish Kafrelsheikh University the best of luck in the international competition. We’re hoping to win the cup for the sixth time.”
